This time World Number One Roger Federer is looking forward to break the record of Bjorn Borg’s of five consecutive Wimbledon titles. Though he has return from a French Open loss to Nadal but this is a different game altogether as Federer’s confidence is high in grass court with already four Wimbledon titles. But he has to face on his likes of Marat Safin, Tommy Haas and James Blake who are dangerous on the grass-courts.

Two-time runner-up Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal and 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt’s roads to quarter final also look a bit tough with the presence of some competitive players. Nadal with fund memories from French Open will not try to do again last times performance in the final.

But he has to perform his best in the very first round against one of the finest Carlos Moya.

On women’s side last time runners-up Justin Henin, three-time champion Venus Williams, 2004 champion Maria Sharapova and defending champion Amelie Mauresmo are some of the strong contenders. Two-time champion (2002 & 2003) Serena Williams on her return looks confident and competitive to create magic on the grass court.

Another important thing of this year championship is that Wimbledon has increased the prize money to $1.4 million for men and women. Keeping in mind the popularity and involvement of topmost players for the title Wimbledon has decided to include the Hawk-eye technology for the first time on Centre and Number One courts. This is the best technology to determine whether a serve is in or out. This year Wimbledon is certainly going to produce some outstanding matches.
