KP and his boys get back to financial reality, to get 1K pound each in Rajkot ODI

London, Nov.9 (ANI): England cricket captain Kevin Pietersen and his players can rake in the princely sum of 1,000-pounds-a-man when they face India in the first one-day international in Rajkot.

It is 600 times less than England stars would have earned if they had won the Stanford Twenty20 extravaganza in Antigua last Saturday.

"We went to Antigua not knowing what would happen and we made mistakes. But we learned a lot from that trip. We'll make sure the next week is a fantastic one for us - the boys are really fired up to play some great cricket in India," The Sun quoted KP, as saying.

England all-rounder Luke Wright said: "Losing the game in Antigua was very disappointing but it is a five-year contract and a lot of the lads will get to play in it again. A few of us were uneasy because all the build-up was about the money and people talking about the traditions of cricket."

"Most of us are used to playing for the pride of representing our country but it felt like a selfish game," he added.

Pietersen has also challenged fast bowler Steve Harmison to reclaim his position as the world's No 1 bowler.

Harmy was the planet's top-rated bowler in 2004 but is currently 27th.

"We have a lot of talent but I don't like talking about talent. I like seeing it produced out on the field like we did towards the end of the summer against South Africa," he added. (ANI)
