Uttar Pradesh Govt orders probe into Meerut explosion

Lucknow, Nov 9 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Government has issued orders to probe Saturday's explosion in Meerut, in which five persons were killed and six were injured.

 

The Inspector General of Police (Meerut Zone) has been asked to find out how a live bomb belonging to army reached the waste dump.

 

The State Government has announced financial assistance of one lakh rupees to the next of kin of adults killed in the blast and fifty thousand rupees to next of kin of minors killed in the explosion. Thirty thousand rupees will be given to each of the injured in the incident.

 

The blast occurred in the Ahmednagar area of Meerut as victims were trying to extract copper from a live mortar shell. (ANI)
