Jamnagar (Gujarat), Nov 8 (IANS) At least 86 couples from different parts of Gujarat will get married in a mass marriage ceremony here Monday to be organised by a non-government organisation.
The event is being organized by 300-year-old Shri Ananda Bawa Seva Sanstha, Mahant (Hindu priest) Devprasadji Maharaj of the organisation told reporters Saturday.
'This is the 9th function we are organizing. These mass marriage functions began 20 years ago. The present function is being held on Guru Maharaj Shantiprasadji Maharaj's 31st anniversary,' Maharaj said.
The organisation's 8th mass marriage function was meant only for the Muslims. In the ceremony 51 Muslim couples tied the knot, the mahant said.
Relatives from both brides and bridegrooms' side will also be present during the occasion, the mahant added.
The organisation is well-known for its free medical dispensaries here and has over the years helped 1,748 young men and women get married.
