Produced in Odia language, the All India Radio Programme titled ‘Janiba, Ame Kama Kariba’ (Think Globally, Act Locally) bagged the first prize in the category of Children Programme in the 9th International Radio Festival held in Iran for dispersing environmental messages within entertainment.
Padmalochan Das, the Programme Executive, All India Radio, Sambalpur (Odisha) received the award on Thursday night in an official ceremony in the Isfahan city of Iran. The award carries a golden statue and a cash prize of Euro 2000.
The programme in its innovative way disseminates scientific information such as making of the solar system, the earth, and climatic change to children in a musical way- making fun at the same time generating awareness to save the planet from environmental degradation.
In the programme, two children (Kuni & Mani) are in conversation with their mother in a garden. The sun, the tree, the pond, the butterfly and the fumes have been personified to interact with the children and speak for them.
Earlier, Das had also received the 1st Prize in the 8th International Radio Festival Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting in 2007 in the category “Other Structures” based on HIV/AIDS. Another programme of Mr. Das was awarded Best CBA Awards for his programme in category of the Science Reporting & Programming this year.
With the theme “Radio, the Voice of Cultures”, the 9th International Radio Festival of Iran aimed at bringing voice of various cultures in to one platform through radio, which is the live voice of life and culture of the people of different regions around the world.
The festival provides participants to showcase their creativity in quality radio programme and establishing a place for radio as a culture making media at the same time spreading awareness on various human development issues in growing world today.
