Lucknow, Nov 6 (IANS) An Uttar Pradesh policeman has been booked for allegedly raping a woman in Shahjahanpur district, officials said Thursday.
Tejpal Singh, posted at Tilhat police station of the district, is absconding after the woman accused him of raping her.
'The woman has alleged that Singh lured her to his government quarter inside the police station premises when she went there to lodge a complaint Oct 15,' Shahjahanpur district police Superintendent Ejil Arasan told IANS over phone.
The woman said that Singh raped her and then tried to give her money, he added.
'The woman recognized Singh when we showed her his identity card,' Arasan added.
In another incident of police atrocity, a drunk policeman in Lucknow shot dead a handicapped paan seller because he did not get his cigarette quickly.
The policeman Rajiv Mishra allegedly pumped six shots into Kaushal Asthana late Wednesday night. Of the six shots, three were fired into his chest. Asthana was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
