Karachi, Nov 5 (ANI): A 20-year-old Karachi girl who ran from pillar to post for months together in getting her jailed parents in India released, died after she consumed an overdose of intoxicating drugs here Monday evening. The dead girl Saba's parents are presently lodged in Jodhpur Jail after they were caught by Indian authorities from the Attari Border while returning to their home.
The parents - father Mohammad Hussain and her mother Yasmin - were arrested on the charge of tampering with their passports.
Over the past few months, Saba contacted Pakistani authorities and even the media to highlight her plight. But, she decided to take the extreme step of ending her life after she failed to convince any of the authorities to come to her help.
Saba's parents had left Karachi for India on April 4, and were arrested at the Atari Boarder on their return to Pakistan on May 10.
Her close relatives declined to comment, particularly her sisters. "We fear that her parents will die if they find out. We will not tell the media anything, because nobody helped us when this girl was going from pillar to post for help and justice," the Daily Times quoted her relatives as saying.
Saba was the fourth among her eight sisters and had no brother. She was an Intermediate student and her father ran a rent-a-car service at Mehmoodabad. She was laid to rest on Tuesday.
This is the second incident where Pakistani visitors to India have been held for tampering with their visas and a relative has died. The first person to die was Abdul Ghafoor Hingoro, who died in an accident while approaching authorities, seeking the release of his wife and children who are imprisoned in India. (ANI)
