World chess champion Viswanathan Anand surviving a hard fought battle in the 9th game at Bonn, Germany, secured a draw against the Russian Vladimir Kramnik. With this, he has inched one step closer to retain the World Chess Championship title.
The Russian with his black pieces maintain immense pressure on Anand with some attacking moves, but the game ended as draw after five hours and 45 moves.
Anand needs now half a point to win the World Championship, while Vladimir has to win the remaining three games to achieve the tie-break.
The Indian now with a 6-3 lead, needs only one draw from the remaining three games to keep his world title. The Championship is decided in that moment when one player achieves 6, 5 points in the 12-game match; no game would be played further.
