Weather to improve in West Bengal before Diwali

Kolkata, Oct 26 (IANS) It's good news for the Kali puja and Diwali festival revellers in West Bengal as the weather is expected to improve in the state by Monday morning, an official said Sunday.

 

'The low-pressure zone, formed in the Gangetic West Bengal since Saturday, is expected to intensify further and will cross West Bengal-Bangladesh coast near Sagar Island in the next 12 hours,' Regional Met office, Kolkata, director G.C. Debnath told IANS.

 

 

'So from tomorrow (Monday) morning, we can expect some improvement in the weather,' added he.

 

 

He said the low-pressure zone was present at about 450-km south and south-west of Kolkata till Sunday afternoon.

 

 

'On the occasion of Kali puja and Diwali festival in the state we can fairly expect a bright weather in Kolkata and its adjacent coastal south Bengal districts.'

 

 

'All the ports and fishermen in the coastal belts have also been alerted and advised not to venture out in the sea,' Debnath said.

 

 

Diwali is Oct 28.
