National, Wed, 15 Oct 2008 IANS

Shimla, Oct 15 (IANS) A Himachal Pradesh court Wednesday again reserved its order on the bail plea of a senior bureaucrat who was arrested earlier this month for alleged corruption.

Special district and sessions judge J.L. Gupta said he would pronounce the order Thursday on the bail application of Subhash Ahluwalia, who was principal private secretary to former chief minister Virbhadra Singh.

The high-profile officer, who was charged with amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income, is in police remand.

Ahluwalia, a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, and his wife Meera were questioned by vigilance officials about his sources of income a number of times.

Ahluwalia, at present a settlement officer in Kangra district, was not present in the court on health grounds.

On Monday, the judge had reserved his order on the bail petition for Wednesday.
