Car runs over nine people, four critically injured

Lucknow, Oct 15 (IANS) Four people were in critical condition after a car ran over them and five others as they were standing on the footpath in a town in Uttar Pradesh, the police said.

The incident occurred in the civil lines locality in Moradabad town, some 300 km from Lucknow, late Tuesday night.

The police said that four of the injured were in critical condition.

'The car (Santro) came to a halt after hitting the railing and we have arrested the driver, R.K. Arora. A medical test was also conducted on him and the report is awaited,' Dharmendra Sirohi, inspector of civil lines police station, told IANS.
