London, Jan 9(ANI): Barcelona defender Gerard Pique believes that his team mate Lionel Messi is the reason why Barcelona has performed so well in the past few years.
Pique also believes that the two times FIFA World Player of the Year, Messi is guiding his side to become world's best ever team, The Daily Star reports.
"Messi is leading the team to be one of the best ever. It is thanks to him that we have won so many titles. It takes many years to get to the top and Leo is the best in the world," said Pique.
Ex Manchester United defender Pique also believes Messi can complete a hat rick of world's best player's award.
Messi is on a shortlist of three footballers for the FIFA Ballon d'or 2011 prize this year along with Barca teammate Xavi and Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid. (ANI)
