Chennai, Jan 9 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari has expressed sorrow over the demise of party leader Sukumaran Nambiar.
Nambiar, a national executive member of the BJP and former treasurer of the party, breathed his last on Sunday morning following a heart attack. He joined the party in 1991 and was very close to BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani and AIADMK chief J. Jayalalithaa.
Nambiar, an industrialist by profession, was the son of veteran Tamil actor M N Nambiar.
Recalling Sukumaran Nambiar's commitment to the BJP, Gadkari said that the former's demise is a great loss for the party.
"Sukumaran Nambiar was the great leader and worker of the party. He contributed in the expansion of the party in Tamil Nadu and at the same time he contributed at the national level also as a treasurer. He was very much committed for the party and the ideology," Gadkari told the media here.
"Many times, on economic issues and foreign affairs issues, he always tried to help me. It's a great loss for the party now. I particularly from my national party due make condolences for his family and for all the party workers in Tamil Nadu," he added.
Nambiar is survived by his wife and two sons. (ANI)
