Nanded (Maharashtra), Oct 7 (ANI): United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson and Congress party leader Sonia Gandhi today said that the government was committed to fight terrorism and asked people to maintain communal harmony and peace.
Gandhi was addressing a public meeting after visiting "Guru-Da-Gaddi" celebrations at Huzoorsaheb gurudwara, where she described Guru Govind Singh as a true nationalist.
She said, "We have to draw inspiration from his teachings."
At the rally, Gandhi termed the Indo-US nuclear deal as historic, and said it would help boost India's energy needs.
Gandhi while praising the Congress said the party can give boost to the development activities for upliftment of poor and weaker sections of the society.
The UPA Chairperson also praised the Manmohan Singh-led UPA Government for its pro-people policies.
During her visit, Sonia Gandhi was accompanied by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Maharashtra Congress president Manikrao Thakre. (ANI)
