Barabanki, Jan 2 (ANI): Blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the non-passage of the anti-graft Lokpal Bill in the Parliament, Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma has said people of India wouldn't forget and forgive BJP for blocking the passage of the bill.
"The country would have got the Lokpal bill but BJP prevented that from happening. People of this country are not going to forgive them. The BJP is not against corruption instead they promote corruption," Verma told reporters here.
Claiming that BJP didn't have leaders to match the charisma of Rahul Gandhi, Verma said: " We have the leadership for forty years in the form of Rahul Gandhi. Who is in BJP to match him?"
The Rajya Sabha broke up for recess on December 29 without voting on a bill to create a Lokpal before a deadline set by activist Anna Hazare, who has led a campaign for the measure using hunger strikes.
The anti-graft legislation for which social activist Hazare and his team have fomented a successful mass movement may now be taken up in the budget session of parliament, probably in March. (ANI)
