London, Dec 28 (ANI): A high street curry house in the UK has been given a massive 3,500 pounds takeaway order for troops at an air base 3,000 miles away in Sudan.
Chefs at the Eye of the Tiger in Bournemouth, England, started making 1,000 poppadoms, 1,000 samosas, 100 chicken tikkas, 500 fish curries and 500 lamb biryanis.
They will cook it all on Friday before freezing it to be flown to war-torn Darfur to feed 500 Bangladeshi troops there on New Year's Eve.
"It's the biggest order we've had. It's a bit worrying - but we hope everything will come together in time," the Sun quoted Ramjan Ali, the restaurant owner as saying.
Businessman Mustafa Azim, 45, of Wallington, South London, ordered the takeout for his squadron leader cousin and comrades. He was given a 50 percent discount.
Mustafa, a regular at the restaurant when he was pilot training nearby, said that he "wanted to put a smile on their faces at this time of year." (ANI)
