Beijing, Dec 23(ANI): Senior Chinese diplomat Dai Bingguo has arrived in Pakistan for talks in the wake of the latter's worsening ties with the United States
Dai will call on Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and President Asif Ali Zardari, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Liu Weimin said.
The visit would mark 60 years of Sino-Pak ties and "take relations to a new high", he added.
The meeting would also "discuss the future development of practical cooperation and exchange views on other issues of mutual concern," Weimin said.
"China is satisfied with the present course of bilateral relations and has total confidence in prospects for future cooperation the future," The Dawn quoted him, as saying.
Beijing has expressed concerns over deteriorating Pak-US ties over the Abbotabad raid that killed former Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden and the deadly November 26 NATO airstrike.
Pakistan has, subsequently edged closer to "all-weather friend" China to counter-balance US influence in Asia
China has invested over 200 million dollars to build the Gwadar port on Pakistan's Arabian Sea coast, and aided building of nuclear power generation facility at Chashma in Punjab province. (ANI)
