Death toll reaches to 110 in India due to shivering cold; Forecast to be worsen in Delhi

The bone trembling cold has killed over 110 people in north India. As much as 20 more deaths were reported yesterday due to cold wave packed extreme winter in the north India.

The thick blanket of fog and low visibility has severely hurt the flight and train service in the northern, eastern and north-western parts of the country.

The condition is not going to improve in the capital, says Met Office, Safdarjung Delhi.

The temperature that increases today is likely to dip again on the eve of Christmas, added met office.

'The estimated temperature is likely to be in the range of 4.6 to 23 degree Celsius with thicky fog in the morning,' met reports stated.

Kanpur was found the chilliest city of the state with a minimum 2.6 degree Celsius temperature in yesternight.

The maximum 14 people were reported died in the state reaching to a 72 deaths in the state.

Northern states Punjab and Haryana continued to shiver yesterday. Amritsar was coldest in the region with a low of 2.3 deg C, which were two notches below normal. The accumulative death toll has reached to 14 people so far in the both the states.

In the central India, the mercury continued to dip till 6 to 4 deg Celsius over many parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa.

The Vidarbha region and north interior Karnataka also witnessed sharp slip in mercury.

The blanket of fog dilutes yesterday and people of the northern India feel some respite due to sunny day. But the temperature suddenly dipped in the night and cold wave intensified the chilliness.

This year, the cold waves have extended to West Bengal and as much as eight people have reported dead in state's Malda district.

The Kashmir Valley and Himachal Pradesh are witnessing severe cold and heavy snow falling. The Minimum temperature in Ladakh slipped to minus 16.2 degrees Celsius while adjoining Kargil district trembled with minus 12.8 deg C, as per official report stated.

Due to heavy snow falling, the tourists in the hilly areas are enjoying the ice-games like skating and skiing.

But, on the other hand, the dense fog and low visibility has interrupted the service of flights. Trains and buses were continued to be late today.
