Sydney, Dec 18(ANI): The founder of Twenty20 cricket has applauded Cricket Australia (CA)'s rebooting of its domestic Twenty20 competition, the Big Bash League, as innovative.
Stuart Robertson, who in 2003 first devised the shortest format in his then role as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)'s marketing manager, however, is unsure whether the new franchises would capture the imagination of fans, particularly in Melbourne and Sydney, where they can choose between two teams.
"Will people develop an affinity for these new teams? From a long way away I think the biggest challenge will be Melbourne and Sydney - suddenly you move from one state side to having two teams in each of those cities and how does the fan base decide on which one to support?" Robertson told The Sunday Age.
"That to me would be interesting," he added. (ANI)
