Poonch, Dec 17 (ANI): Senior officials of Border Security Force (BSF), deployed in Kashmir, have accused Pakistan of repeated violations of the ceasefire in the recent past.
BSF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Poonch and Rajouri sectors, Naresh Kumar, said that Pakistan has routinely instigated and engaged in sporadic skirmishes and firefights with Indian troops at the border even after a ceasefire agreement between the two nations was enforced eight years ago.
"There have been numerous violations of the ceasefire agreement, which has been in place since the last eight years, by Pakistan. On an average, ceasefire violations by Pakistan take place in at least three to four areas every month," said Kumar.
Lauding the stellar work carried out by the brave personnel at the borders, BSF Commandant in Poonch, GS Daliwal, asserted that due to intense patrolling, a number of infiltration attempts by militants had been thwarted in the recent past.
"We have thwarted all infiltration bids that have taken place here in the recent past, all the ceasefire violations by Pakistan is aimed at allowing militants to cross over to the Indian side. The Indian Army and the BSF stand shoulder to shoulder in our deployments in the area. Wherever BSF personnel are deployed, they carry out their work with due diligence," said Daliwal.
Owing to the threat of cross-border militant infiltration, Indian troops have stepped up vigilance and patrolling in the sensitive areas of Kashmir Valley.
