Gaya, Dec 14 (ANI): A group of Maoists have destroyed a school by razing it down to the ground in Gaya District of Bihar.
Residents say around 100 armed rebels stormed into Barachatti village with a bulldozer and demolished the building.
Police and paramilitary personnel were called out to the site after residents informed them of the incident.
According to Satyendra Kumar Mishra, officer in-charge at Barachatti police station, Communist Party of India-Maoists carried out the attack.
"This has been done so that the students are not able to study. This has been done by the rebels of Communist Party of India-Maoists and this incident took place at some point between 9pm and 12am at night," said Mishra.
Schoolteacher Shankar Thakur expressed his concern, saying that the children now had nowhere to study.
"The problems these children now face is that they have no place to sit. Where will they study now? I do not have any place. We are three teachers here and 413 children," said Thakur.
The recent increase in Maoist attacks has adversely hit daily lives of the people in affected areas. (ANI)
