Kashmir Police Chief claims militancy in State curbed by 48 percent

Poonch, Wed, 14 Dec 2011 ANI

Poonch, Dec 14 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda has said that militancy in the state has come down by 48 percent and they are keeping their guard on any infiltration attempts.

"I would say that we have controlled militancy to a great extent. As compared to last year's figures, there has been a downfall of militancy cases by about 48 percent. And especially in Jammu region there has been a fall of about 70 percent in militancy," he told the media here.

"And in Kashmir it is about 38 to 40 percent fall in the number of cases. So, overall trend has been down but since there is militancy in other parts and the militants are trying to infiltrate into our region we are keeping a check," Khoda added.

Khoda further said the police are maintaining its guard to combat militancy in order to restore peace and development in the region. (ANI)
