Three dead, one missing as bus falls into river in Lucknow

New Delhi, Dec 7(ANI): In an unfortunate incident, three people died when a bus fell into a river in Lucknow on Wednesday.

 

While briefing mediapersons, a police officer, Dipika Sharma, said that the bus belonged to a local medical college named 'Babu Banarasi Das College' (BBD) and the accident happened when a group of interns were returning in it after attending a medical camp in Sahelia village.

 

Sharma further added that the police have recovered bodies of three victims and the bus driver is missing and the search operation is in progress.

 

"This bus belongs to Babu Banarasi Das College (BBD) and the students were returning in this bus from Sahelia village, after attending a camp. We found bodies of Dr. Aamir, Dr. Anil inside the bus and their bodies were taken to the hospital. We also got one more body, which is not identified by the people of BBD, and these people are saying that the bus driver is missing. So, we are searching for the driver and the divers are also searching him," Sharma said.

 

"Total about four persons were present in the bus. The reason behind this accident must be known to the bus driver, but right now we can only say that the bus fell into the river," she added.

 

Meanwhile, kin of the bus driver was seen mourning for the bus driver, identified as Jitender as he was missing after the accident.

 

Sister of the bus driver told reporters that the accident happened because of the failure of the breaks of the vehicle.

 

"He (bus driver) is my younger brother... his name is Jitender... he was driving the bus and suddenly the breaks got failed," said Sita Devi.

 

Further investigation into the accident is still underway. (ANI)
