Latehar, Dec 4(ANI): At least five policemen were killed in an attack on Independent Lok Sabha member from Chatra and former Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari on Saturday.
Namdhari escaped unhurt after his cavalcade was attacked by Maoists in rebel hotbed Latehar district on Saturday, but the policemen travelling behind his vehicle fell victims.ingh narrated the horrific incident before mediapersons in Daltonganj soon after the narrow escape.
"There was the inauguration of St. Xaviers College, the first in Mahuatand; and it was a joyous occasion. I was the chief guest so I reached directly from Netarhat," said Singh.
"When we started from there it was already 5.45 p.m (IST). Soon after crossing river Koel and reaching a nearby stream we heard a massive explosion. Despite hearing the explosion we did not stop the cavalcade."
"I had never heard such a loud explosion in my life. My vehicle was being followed by a mini truck carrying police personnel. I don't know what happened to them, the police will have better information on that, but our vehicle sped away from the site of attack," he added.
