Chennai, Dec 3(ANI): Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) Member of Parliament Kanimozhi, who was granted bail in the 2G spectrum scam by court on November 28, today arrived in Tamil Nadu to a thunderous welcome by the party's supporters.

Supporters danced and shouted slogans as Kanimozhi walked out of the Chennai airport premises accompanied by her father and DMK chief M. Karunanidhi.

Swarm of people including mediapersons and security personnel were seen crowding the telecom scam accused who was in a Delhi prison since May 20 this year.

Kanimozhi waved at her supporters who came in large numbers to welcome her.

Earlier in the day, Kanimozhi said she was confident of proving her innocence before the court.

Apart from Kanimozhi, the other accused granted bail yesterday in the case include Cineyug founder Karim Morani, Kalaignar TV's MD Sharath Kumar, Kusegaon directors Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal.

Kanimozhi and five others had moved the High Court on November 23 for advancing the hearing of their bail pleas, shortly after the Supreme Court had granted bail to five corporate executives-Unitech Limited MD Sanjay Chandra, Swan Telecom Director Vinod Goenka and Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group executives Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara.

The telecom scam, one of India's biggest graft cases ever, may have cost 39.57 billion dollars in revenue to the public exchequer as per the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

Former Telecom Minister A. Raja was sacked in November last year and later arrested after being charged with giving away telecom licences in 2008 for a pittance as indicated in the CAG report. (ANI)
