Amritsar, Dec 3, (ANI): Supreme Court Judge, Justice DK Jain, while delivering a speech at the 105th Annual Convocation of Khalsa College has expressed serious concern over the spread of drugs in Punjab, which he said is playing havoc with society at large.
Justice Jain squarely blamed the proliferation of drugs in Pakistan as it is illegally supplied through the border into Punjab suggesting to take legal, societal and administrative measures to stem this evil.
Justice Jain along with Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge, Justice Jasbir Singh presided over Convocation ceremony at Khalsa College were nearly 422 degrees were awarded to the students and medals were given to the meritorious ones.
Justice Jain also talked about the pendency of cases in courts at all levels,articularly at district levels attributing it to the lack of sufficient infrastructure and budgets.
He said the Supreme Court was too worried over the backlog and theyere taking steps to make sure that the justice is delivered on time.
"A multi-pronged strategy is required to tackle the problem and we want more cooperation from state governments to deal with the situation'', he added. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
