Charges of land grabbing are false, says Stalin

Chennai, Dec 2(ANI): Senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party leader M.K. Stalin today assailed the ruling Tamil Nadu government of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) headed by Jayaram Jayalalithaa.

Stalin accused Jayalalithaa of resorting to political vendetta by levelling false charges.

"Yesterday, against me, my son Udayanidhi and our Rajashekharan cases were lodged in framed up charges. These false charges were levelled implicating us and an FIR was registered at the behest of the government of Jayalalithaa who wants to divert the public attention from the court proceedings against her at Bangalore," said Stalin, while reacting to the land grabbing charges against him at Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu State Police registered an FIR (First Information Report) against Stalin and his son Udayanidhi Stalin and his four aides Rajashekaran, Subba Reddy, Venugopal Reddy and Srinivas mentioning that they are allegedly involved in forcing a businessman to sell his property to them.

Stalin also taunted Jayalalithaa by saying she had reworded the word FIR as Fraud Information Report.

"In the regime of Jayalalithaa, the FIR that stands for First Information Report in any case filed at a police station has been reworded by her into Fraud Information Report. Yes, FIR as per her is Fraud Information Report and we are the victims," added Stalin.

As per media reports, N. Seshadrikumar had lodged a complaint against Stalin's aides who had threatened his tenants to vacate the house built near to the DMK leader's property and forced him to sell the house in his favour.

He also added that he would bravely face all the accusations in the court.

"To apprise the top brass of the police about the frivolous charges, we came here to meet the DGP (Director General of Police) but the meeting did not take place since he wasn't in. Nonetheless, we met ADGP (Additional Director General of Police)-Admin Rajendran and told him about all the false charges. Of course, I am not scared of facing the court since these accusations are bags of lies," said Stalin.

The property, measuring around 6,000 square feet, was said to be bought by Venugopal Reddy, a Stalin associate, for 5.54 crore rupees which was less than the market price prevailing in 2010. (ANI)
