Petaling Jaya (Malaysia), Dec.1 (ANI): Malaysia's first women's radio station-Capital FM 88.9 - has taken to the airwaves.
According to The Star, it features a hand-picked line-up of celebrity presenters, including Asha Gill, Joanne Kam, Xandria Ooi, Patricia K, Sheela Haran, April Kuan, Joey G and Liang.
Listeners in the Klang Valley can start their day with Talk of the Town breakfast segment from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., hosted by the outspoken Joanne Kam and her charming foil Joey G.
Dynamic duo Xandria Ooi and Liang will go on air with The Jam Break from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for some thought-provoking chat topics while keeping listeners company during their drive home from the office.
Sheela Haran brings sexy back with Groovedown from 8 p.m. to midnight with some good old R and B and urban groove tunes.
Her segment offers a "safe haven" for women as they are invited to share their thoughts and questions on relationships and social lifestyle.
Described as a "walking music encyclopedia", deejay April Kuan will keep listeners entertained on Saturday Global Passport from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and through Sunday Jazzscapes from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday Global Passport offers an opportunity to listen to music from all over the world, ranging from K-Pop, African, South American to European, while Sunday Jazzscapes features various forms of jazz like acid jazz, soul jazz and funk jazz to ease listeners as they get ready for the next working day.
Programme consultant Aanont Martin Robert Wathanasin, better known as Non, said the station's predominantly female deejay line-up was deliberate as "Capital FM is a real radio station for real women".
Capital FM, which began transmission at 6 a.m. today. is an unformatted radio station, with its play list mainly skewed towards urban adult contemporary music. (ANI)
