Pak ISPR terms reports of military operations in Balochistan as 'disinformation campaign'

Islamabad, Sat, 26 Nov 2011 ANI

Islamabad, Nov 26 (ANI): Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has denied reports about military operations in Balochistan, and declared them baseless.

The Daily Times quoted the ISPR, as saying that the reports about continuing military operations were a part of a propaganda and disinformation campaign by criminal elements involved in harassing peace-loving people.

The ISPR statement referred to reports appearing in some sections of newspapers about military operations in Chamalang and its adjoining areas.

"The objective of these elements is to disrupt economic and mining activities to target law enforcement agencies through cowardly acts of sabotage. No operation is being carried out anywhere in Balochistan by the army or its other organs," it added.

The ISPR further said that the presence of FC troops in certain areas was only meant for he provision of security for economic, mining and gas exploration projects like Chamalang, Duki and Musakhel coal mines. (ANI)
