Delhi High Court reserves order on cash for vote scam bail plea

New Delhi, Nov.14 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Monday reserved its order on bail pleas of six persons, including two former BJP Members of Parliament and L K Advani's former aide Sudheendra Kulkarni in the 2008 cash-for-vote case with the police saying it did not object to their applications as the probe was over.

The court was hearing the applications of five jailed accused, including former BJP lawmakers Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahabir Singh Bhagora, Kulkarni, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Amar Singh's former aide Sanjeev Saxena and alleged BJP activist Suhail Hindustani, who were denied bail by the lower court.

Besides them, another BJP lawmaker Ashok Argal, who has so far not been arrested, has sought grant of anticipatory bail in the case.

Justice M.L. Mehta, after hearing arguments for nearly two hours on behalf of the six accused, reserved his orders for November 16.

"The honourable court may consider granting bail to all the six accused who have filed their bail applications in the court," the Delhi Police counsel, Pawan Sharma, told the high court earlier during the hearing of the bail pleas of the five jailed accused and the anticipatory bail plea of BJP MP Ashok Argal.

Justice Mehta will hear the anticipatory bail plea of Samajwadi Party leader Rewati Raman Singh, who was summoned as an accused by the trial court judge recently.

The cash-for-votes scam had rocked proceedings in the Lok Sabha in 2008, when the ruling UPA Government, led by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, allegedly bribed lawmakers of other parties to help winning the confidence vote. (ANI)
