Tehran, Nov 8 (ANI): Iran's Deputy Interior Minister Ali Abdollahi has said no security problem threatens the proposed Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.
The Nation quoted Abdollahi as saying that the ministry of oil should follow up for finishing the project and establishing the pipeline as soon as possible.
The multi-billion-dollar Iran- Pakistan gas pipeline deal, which was signed in June 2010, aims to export a daily amount of 21.5 million cubic meters of Iranian natural gas to Pakistan.
Pakistan's Minister of Oil and Natural Resources Asim Hussain had announced on October 28 that the pipeline would be completed before the end of 2013.
The 900-kilometer pipeline stretches on Iran's soil from Asalouyeh gas field in southern Bushehr Province to the city of Iranshahr in Sistan-Baluchestan province, bordering Pakistan.
The Pakistan-based Sunni rebel group Jundollah, who says it is fighting for the interests of Sistan-Baluchestan's large ethnic Baluch community, has been held responsible for the deadly attacks, explosions and insecurity in the region in the past years. (ANI)
