Team Anna not scared of phone tapping

New Delhi, Sun, 06 Nov 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Nov. 6 (ANI): The key associates of veteran social activist Anna Hazare on Sunday said that they are not scared of phone tapping by the government agencies.

Manish Sisodia, a close aide of Hazare, said the information, which was confined to two to three colleagues were known to the police and media.

"In the past few days, many incidences have taken place, the information which was confined to two to three colleagues was also known to the police and even the media came to know about it. The information has been certainly gathered after phone tapping. We are not scared of phone tapping. We are not worried that our phone being tapped," said Sisodia.

Meanwhile, Kumar Vishwas, another associate of Hazare, said the country would decide whether the members of Hazare's team posed a threat to the country or the militants who commit crimes.

"The country will decide whether Team Anna is a threat to the country or those militants are threat to the country whose phone agencies fail to tap and they flee after committing crimes," he added.

Team Anna has asked the Union Home Ministry whether permission was granted to any agency to tap their phones.

Vishwas also slammed 74-year-old Hazare's former blogger Raju Parulekar, who published a letter on the blog claiming that Hazare had written it.

The letter mentioned that the anti-corruption activist wanted to restructure the core-committee.

"He (Raju Parulekar) has misused his position. His job was to publish whatever Anna said. If he is going to add his point of view it is clear that he is playing in the hands of somebody. He wants to convey their viewpoint through Anna to the country," added Vishwas.

Parulekar made public a blog, which was kept under wraps to blunt the Gandhian's claim that he had not spoken to him about reorganising his Core team.

Parulekar, a journalist, also claimed that Anna Hazare wanted to remove "undemocratic and fascist" Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, Prashant Bhushan and "their pawns" from his core group.

The fall-out between Hazare and Parulekar came as the former claimed that he never ever spoke to the journalist or met him on the issue of re-structuring of Core Committee and forming a new Pan-Indian organisation with immediate effect. By Ashutosh Kumar (ANI)
