Bhopal, Oct 3 (IANS) The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's parliamentarian Virendra Khatik was injured in a baton-charge in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district when he tried to intervene between encroachers on a railway land and the police, an official said.
The personnel of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) were removing encroachment from railway land in Bina town's Chhotta Bajaria locality.
While the encroachment drive was on, the affected people started pelting stones at the policemen as soon as MP Virendra Khatik reached there.
The policemen used force to disperse the crowd, injuring Khatik. He received serious head injury.
'The MP is being shifted to Bhopal for treatment,' S.S. Badgujar, GRP in-charge at Bina, told IANS.
