Bangalore, Oct 19 (ANI): Karnataka Housing Minister V Somanna on Wednesday said former chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa is extremely upset against allegations that he faked his illness in order to avoid going to the jail.
"He (Yeddyurappa) is hurt. I had gone to meet him. He has arrived at a conclusion. When I went to ask him about his health he said in hurry that people have thought wrong of him, and so he said he had come as a normal prisoner and not as a VIP," said Somanna, when questioned about Yeddyurappa's decision of not getting further treatment at the at the Victoria Hospital.
Stung by criticism over his health issues being a farce and an excuse for him to stay out of jail, Yeddyurappa earlier in the day refused to take further treatment at the Victoria Hospital here so as to return to the prison.eddyurappa was arrested after a special Lokayukta Court rejected his anticipatory bail on October 15 and issued an arrest warrant against him.
Former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde's independent inquiry into mining graft in Karnataka, accused Yeddyurappa and other key officials for causing a loss of at least 160 billion rupees to the state exchequer between 2006 and 2010 from illegal mining and a series of abuses.
Yeddyurappa tendered his resignation on July 31 to Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj, following allegations of corruption that was later accepted. (ANI)
