Washington, Wed, 19 Oct 2011 ANI

Washington, Oct 19 (ANI): President Barack Obama's approval rating has hit a new low in New Hampshire, with a latest poll saying that only 35 percent of independent voters there approve of how he is handling his job, with fifty-three percent saying they disapprove.

emocrats continue to highly approve of Obama, with 78 percent viewing how he is serving as president favorably. But the figure was much lower among New Hampshire's critical independent voters with just 35 percent of those respondents expressing their approval.

In July, 49 percent of those surveyed said they disapproved of how Obama was doing his job and 46 percent said they approved. Obama's lowest approval rating in the state was previously 44 percent, which he hit in July 2010 and April 2011, Politico reported.

On the key issue of the economy, over half (58 percent) said that Obama is not handling it well. As opposed to 37 percent who said they approved.

New Hampshire residents said that they are not happy with the United States as a whole, with two-thirds of people saying that the country is heading in the wrong direction, while only 22 percent say the country is generally going in the right direction. (ANI)
