New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have conveyed their heartiest felicitations to His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, King of Bhutan, and Her Majesty Ashi Jetsun Pema, Queen of Bhutan, on their royal wedding.
President Patil stated that the country was greatly looking forward to welcoming the King and the Queen of Bhutan to India later this month on a State visit.r. Singh in his letter said that the 'Government and people of India wish you every happiness and greater peace and prosperity as Bhutan enters a new era in its history'.
Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai also conveyed his heartiest felicitations to the newly wed couple.
Bhutan's popular King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck tied the nuptial knot with Jetsun Pema at a traditional Buddhist ceremony on Thursday morning.
The wedding took place at a majestic monastery-fortress, the Palace of Great Happiness in Phunaka, which is about 71 km from Thimphu. (ANI)
