Washington, Sept 27(ANI): A new poll has shown Texas Governor Rick Perry leading over former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in the 2012 White House race.
A CNN poll showed that 28 percent Republicans and Independents leaning towards the GOP supported Perry, as compared to 21 percent, who favoured Romney.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich commanded ten percent support, while Representative Ron Paul, former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain, and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin were tied at seven percent support.
At least four percent respondents supported Representative Michele Bachmann, three percent backed former Senator Rick Santorum and one percent favoured former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Politico reports.
The poll also indicates that the 2012 US election will be a tough choice between Obama and other candidates.
According to the poll, Obama remains more popular personally than his policies, as shown by his eight points higher favourablilty rating over his job approval one.
At least 58 percent respondents said he has the leadership qualities and personality of a president.
The poll was conducted between September 23 and 25. (ANI)
