London, Sep.20 (ANI): Manchester City are planning a new state-of-the-art training facility similar to Barcelona's youth system.
According to the Sun, the 80-acre scheme is part of City's plans to conform with UEFA's financial fair play regulations - investment in training facilities is exempt from the rules stating clubs can only spend what they earn.
City's chief football operations officer Brian Marwood pointed to Barca's famous La Masia facility - which has produced the likes of Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta in recent years - as something for his club to aspire to.
City have splashed a whopping 400 million pounds on players in the last three years alone, but Marwood claims they intend to promote from within - sooner rather than later. (ANI)
