Srinagar, Sep.16 (ANI): A senior army official has confirmed the seizure of a large cache of arms and ammunition from a militant hideout in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara District.
Lt. Gen. A. S. Hasnain, General Officer in Command of the Army's 15 Corp, which carried out the operation, described the seizure as a huge breakthrough for the security forces.
He said that the seizure was effected on Wednesday and added that there is a very strict vigil on the Line of Control (LoC) to prevent infiltration.
The arms and ammunition recovered included 10 AK-47 rifles along with 40 magazines, 2,999 rounds and six Chinese pistols with as many as 10 rounds of magazines.
The other recoveries from the cache included 513 PIKA rounds, six Under Barrel Grenade Launchers, 40 Chinese and 10 Pakistan made hand grenades, 34 rocket propelled grenades and three radio sets.
Lt. Gen. Hasnain also revealed that there are about 300 militants in the valley right now and efforts are on to nab them. (ANI)
