Bellary, Sep 11(ANI): Continuing with the raids in connection with the illegal mining scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday raided the residences of two of the close aides of mining baron G. Janardhana Reddy in Karnataka's Bellary district.
The 11-member CBI team raided the residence of Gurulinge Gowda, Chairman of the Bellary Urban Development Authority (BUDA) and Rajashekara Gowda, a Gram Panchayat (village council) member and seized several documents.
Former Karnataka Tourism Minister Reddy and his brother-in-law Srinivas Reddy were arrested by the CBI after they raided their residences on September 5.
Former Karnataka Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde's independent inquiry had earlier accused former state Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, and other key officials of illegal mining.
Along with Yeddyurappa, 400 firms and 787 people were implicated in a web of corruption cases which involved mining, transport, customs and shipping officials, leading to hundreds of thousands of tonnes of iron ore going missing from the mines across the state.
Yeddyurappa had resigned on July 31 over the mining scandal. (ANI)
