London, Sept 6 (ANI): Brit-Indian millionaire Shrien Dewani, who has been charged with masterminding his wife's murder during their honeymoon in Cape Town last year, has spent 40,000 pounds on top South African lawyers and private detectives.
According to legal sources his dad Prakash paid lawyer Taswell Papier, who charges more than 300 pounds an hour, a 9,000 pounds retainer to defend his son, the Sun reports.
Criminal advocates Francois van Zyl are also thought to have been approached, along with private investigators Brooke International.
They are expected to focus on the background of Zola Tongo, who says Dewani paid him to hire hitmen to kill his 28-year-old wife Anni, in his cab in Cape Town, the report said.
Dewani is expected to be flown for trial in Cape Town next month after a UK judge ruled he can be extradited over wife Anni's alleged murder. (ANI)
