Chinese White Paper highlights 'peaceful development' as priority for modernization

Beijing, Sep 6 (ANI): The Chinese Government has published the White Paper on the country's development, that stresses on peaceful development as China's priority to usher modernization, make itself a strong and prosperous nation and contribute to the progress of human civilization.


It describes peaceful development as "a path of scientific, independent, open, peaceful, cooperative and common development."


The White Paper released by China's State Council Information Office elaborates on the path, objective and foreign policy of peaceful development, Xinhua reports.


"Situated in the East, China, a country with an ancient civilization and a population of over 1.3 billion, is making big strides in its advance toward modernization. What path of development has China chosen? What will China's development bring to the rest of the world?" the paper says.


It also says China has declared to the international community on many occasions that it pursues peaceful development and is committed to upholding world peace and promoting common development and prosperity for all countries.


According to the Paper, China would align its international relations and foreign policies to conform to the path of peaceful development.


This includes promoting the building of a harmonious world, pursuing an independent foreign peace policy, promoting new thinking on security on mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality and coordination, actively performing international responsibility and promoting regional cooperation and good-neighborly relations.


The White Paper expresses hope that the international community will have confidence in the China's sincerity and determination to achieve peaceful development, and support rather than hinder the country's peaceful development. (ANI)
