Tibet not a part of China, says Indresh Kumar

Dharamsala, Fri, 02 Sep 2011 ANI

Dharamsala, Sep 2 (ANI): Emphasising that Tibet was never a part of China, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Indresh Kumar has said the Indian government should review its position with Beijing over Tibet.

Addressing a seminar here on Thursday, Kumar said: "I would like to request the Indian government to review its decision of accepting Tibet to be a part of China in 1954; that policy should be reviewed as Tibet was never a part and parcel of China."

Kumar also stressed on the importance of peaceful relations between local Tibetans and Indians.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Tibetan exiles said that people of Tibet are seeking political support from India and the international community.

"We always believed that Tibet needs political support from the Indian government and when the local leaders come over here, they support Tibetan issue, the core issue really, and I think it is of great significance for us," said Sonam Dorjee, Tibetan Welfare Officer. (ANI)
