London, Sept 1 (ANI): Former US President George H W Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush have announced that they won't be able to attend their granddaughter Lauren's wedding to David Lauren on September 4.
There has been a long-running history of family feuds in Lauren's family, spurred by the bitter divorce of her parents Neil and Sharon, who split in 2003 after 23 years of marriage, the Daily Mail reported.
The relationship ended with a series of bitter court battles and allegations of adultery, which were seen at the time to damage the name of the family.
Sharon also accused her former husband of fathering a child out of wedlock.
She later returned to court in an attempt to force a 30,000-dollar a year settlement from her ex-husband, but a judge refused the request.
A spokesman for George H W Bush said that he and his wife, who are currently in Maine, "are not going to be able to make the trip to Colorado this weekend".
The bride's uncle, ex-President George W Bush, and his wife Laura have also not yet revealed if they are going.
It is also not clear who else will attend - including George W Bush's daughters Jenna and Barbara.
The row threatens to overshadow what is being touted as America's equivalent of a Royal wedding for 2011.
Meanwhile the groom's family will be out in force and designer Ralph Lauren, the groom's father, will be hosting the event at his ranch in Colorado. (ANI)
