Delhi plays host to northeastern cultural evening

New Delhi, Aug 29 (ANI): New Delhi recently hosted a northeastern cultural evening where artists from different tribes of the region showcased their rich culture and traditions.

 

The occasion was the Northeast Colors event that was organized by the Delhi Paite Indongta, an association of members of Paite tribe living in Delhi.

 

It aimed to promote the rich and vibrant culture of the region, establish a forum for exchange of ideas and promote the commercialization of traditional costumes in the capital, as it would benefit artisans and craftsmen from the region.

 

" I have traveled extensively in the northeast. I have come across great people and great culture and all the time I keep learning new things about the northeast and still continue to learn," said GK Pillai, former Union Home Secretary.

 

" Northeast has fantastic ray of colors in the form of traditions of various tribes and communities living in the northeastern states. So we realize that we can do something to highlight the colors of different tribes, said M T Kaithang, Program DirectorA fashion show was also organized in which youth from the Paite tribe showcased their traditional clothes that were a fusion of vibrant, colourful and vivid patterns.t also gave the models a chance to appear and be noticed on a national platform.

 

"We all saw that the fashion designers showcased their creativeness through their designs that were displayed during the show. It clearly reflects the talent that youth of northeast has and which can go further," said Suan Lian Ching, a participant

 

"For northeast people in Delhi, most of them are youngsters and are very talented. But they do not know where to show this talent. I think promoting this talent is one of the biggest priorities of the organizers," said Siam Naulak, an audience. (ANI)
