London, August 28 (ANI): New Castle United striker Nile Ranger has been arrested for allegedly assualting and injuring a man outside a pub.
Ranger was arrested after a 33-year-ols man was found unconcious Cosy Joes in Groat Market in New Castle.
"The injured man was unconscious and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary suffering from a suspected broken jaw, " a police spokeswoman was quoted, as saying by The Daily Mail.
"A 20-year-old man (Ranger) was arrested a short time later, nearby, on suspicion of assault and is currently helping police with their enquiries," she added.
Ranger joined Newcastle from Southampton in 2008 and played several games as the Magpies won the second-tier Championship and promotion to the English Premier League in 2010. The north Londoner has also made several appearances for the England under-19 team.

The club has been blighted by controversy over the years with former players Joey Barton and Andy Carroll both being convicted on assault charges for incidents off the pitch.
Barton, 28, who transferred to Queens Park Rangers this week, was jailed for six months in 2008 for assault and affray after repeatedly punching a man during an attack in Liverpool. (ANI)
