New Delhi, Aug 25(ANI): It was an evening when fans sitting in the comfort of their homes and offices enjoyed a live 'webcert' of New Delhi-based legendary rock band Parikrama.
On Wednesday, Parikrama, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, gave a rock music performance live on the music website ArtistAloud.com.
Talking about this first of it's kind concept of 'webcert', Subir Malik, the key founder of Parikrama band, said: "I think it's a fantastic job that they (ArtistAloud.com) are doing. They are probably the only organized agency in the country, who promote so much of independent music. Everyone else is just running behind Bollywood songs."
"So, it's a great initiative. We are happy to be a part of it," he added.
Having opened the show to the legendary band, budding Indie Pop rock artist Joelene Dove expressed delight to be a part of the webcert.
"It was really brilliant, and one of it's kind concert. There is no place where you get live audience from various places together at one platform. We have a big fan base. We have more people looking for our performances and liking our music. Webcert provides that platform," Dove said.
"I have been performing for a long time now, but I started my own music, my own composition some three-four years back. ArtistAloud.com has done really good promotions for upcoming and independent artists like me," she added.
Meanwhile, Mihir Joshi, a radio jockey and founder of the Bombay Rock Project, believes that through the medium of webcert, one can not only reach to the fans from all across the world, but also through various formats such as mobile smartphones, music websites and youtube.
"You get a chance to perform in front of thousands and thousands of people in India and world. Whereas in clubs, at most you will have 400 to 500 fans, but this platform brings you 25,000 to 30,000 people watching your concert from all parts of the world at the same time," said Mihir, whose band 'Bombay Rock Project' has been selected for the quarterfinals of 'India's Got Talent' show.
ArtistAloud.com, which is a special platform for independent musicians, has also won the India Social Case Challenge 2 for Best Strategic Programmes for its innovative approach in digital media.
"Talking about entertainment values, artists known for live performances in and out of the country, helping them build a career in a way that we should definitely be doing this. Hence we merged the fact of providing live performances on a digital platform," Somani Sridhara Paul, the General Manager of ArtistAloud.com explained.
She further revealed: "When we were conceptualizing webcert, we found that Bollywood Hungama, which is part of our company, already had a solution of live web streaming. So, we used that technology and replicated it into this format. Without an artist and technology, I don't think so it would have been possible."
Next onboard for thriving live performance on web will be the famous music band Indian Ocean. They will be performing in October this year. By Priyanka Verma (ANI)
