Amritsar, Aug.15 (ANI): A candle light vigil was observed at the Wagah border in Amritsar, Punjab on Sunday.
People joined veteran journalist Kuldip Nayyar, eminent film maker Mahesh Bhatt and other civil society members in a peaceful candle light march up to the border.
Nayyar told mediapersons that there was a need to boost relationships with Pakistan.
"We want the feeling of camaraderie to development not only between India and Pakistan and make friends with the other countries of the region. A common market should be made so that their and our products get sold there. The countries that are underdeveloped should be given concessions," said Nayyar.
The evening was marked by an event during which prominent Indian and Pakistan artists performed.
Pakistani artist Shaukat Ali said music binds the people of both countries.
"We are the messengers of peace; you can see the love for music from nationals of both the countries. We have Amritsar on one side and Lahore on one side and it is my life," said Ali.
People gathered during the event swayed to the music and even danced and shouting pro-India slogans. (ANI)
