Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Aug.15 (ANI): The swelling of rivers has left the residents of Jamshedpur distressed.
Incessant rainfall over the past few days have caused local rivers to flood, waters of which have partially submerged dozens of houses in the low lying areas.
Residents in Potka area were seen wading through flood waters outside their houses. Many even tried saving their valuables by carrying household things on their heads.
A young girl who is taking shelter at a school with her family said that the local administration is not acting to help or conduct rescue and relief operations.
"Floodwaters have reached up till half the height of the wall and is about to touch the ceiling. We are in great trouble," she said.
Priya, the girl in question, also said that no fresh arrangements have been made for food and relief.
The monsoon this year caused heavy flood in several parts of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and central Madhya Pradesh states, claiming several lives and damaging properties worth millions.(ANI)
