Lahore, August 11(ANI): Pakistan's skipper Misbahul Haq has been nominated in two categories- the 'Test Player of the Year' and the 'Cricketer of the Year'- for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards 2011.
Five other Pakistan players- Wahab Riaz, Azhar Ali, Adnan Akmal, Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez- have also won ICC nominations in categories of the 'Emerging Player of the Year' and the 'ODI Player of the Year'.
The awards ceremony, to be presented in association with the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA), will take place in London on September 12 this year.
Pakistan umpires Aleem Dar and Asad Rauf have won nominations for David Shepherd Trophy along with Billy Bowden, Steve Davis, Kumar Dharmasena, Billy Doctrove, Marais Erasmus, Ian Gould, Tony Hill, Richard Kettleborough, Simon Taufel and Rod Tucker, the Daily Times reports.
The ICC Awards include 10 individual prizes and also feature the selection of the Test and ODI Teams of the Year and the award to the side who have adhered most to the Spirit of Cricket. For the second time, this year's awards feature the category - the People's Choice Award.
The individual player awards will be selected by an academy of 25 highly credentialed cricket personalities from around the world.
The academy includes a host of former players and respected members of the media, representatives of the elite panels of ICC umpires and ICC match referees. The ICC Awards ceremony is now in its eighth year. Previous ceremonies were held in London (2004), Sydney (2005), Mumbai (2006), Johannesburg (2007 and 2009), Dubai (2008) and Bengaluru (2010). (ANI)
